A Special Rock

One morning, I took Josey out to go to potty then came back inside to work on some things. All I could hear was Josey crying, pawing at the door. I thought to myself, "Surely she is done, I just took her and she went!" But out the door we went again. Rather than doing her business, she kept pawing at this one specific place. She sure fooled me- back to the house we went. Same thing happens again. This time I chose to ignore her crying until an hour later goes by. I wondered what in the world this little one was up to! We go back outside and she immediately goes to the same spot and starts digging. Out pops this little rock. I pull her to go back inside and this time she barked. So I let her pick up the rock and as soon as she had it in her mouth, she politely walked back inside the house.

Ever since then, she has slept with the rock, played with the rock, hid the rock underneath our rug to "find" it again, licked and chewed the rock... basically wherever Josey goes, the rock goes. Screw all the expensive toys we bought her, she wants a free toy that came with the yard!
