Fun in the Sun

This last week Scottie and I had to opportunity to go to California with the Neff family. If you know the Neffs, they go all out...
and when I mean all out... I mean the 8:00 am to 11:30 pm at Disneyland kind of family.
Talk about epic...
Disneyland 2008 and Disneyland 2012
I also thought it might be fun to go back in time...
a time when we weren't married and it was hard to keep our hands off each other...
check us out in 2008!
And now look at us in 2012...
... keeping our hands off each other.

Anna 2008 and Anna 2012
I personally love this one... Look how little Anna banana was with her awesome pickle in 2008!

Here are the girls in Disneyland

Boys in Disneyland.. I love that Eric is on his phone
Enjoying Cars Land

Walking with little Andrew in Disneyland

We pretty much ate ourselves sick at Disneyland but hey, it's the happiest place on earth so the last thing we thought about was being healthy.

It was fun hanging out with the family all week and spending time with the little ones.
They seemed to love Disneyland and the beach....
especially these kids.
The waves kept drawing Scot, Jason and Ben back in!

Enjoying Balboa

Enjoying the beaches. If we weren't riding the rides, we were enjoying the waves and man were they huge! Take a look at the one above! :)

We also enjoyed an Angels game the last night. The party never stops!

So there you have it. The good old California Neff Trip never lets you down! What a riot!

Thank you Neffs!

Random thoughts for me today...

I am sitting here relaxing.... And what do I think of? How lucky I am to have two incredible families and good friends...

Case in point click here.
Oh how I have always loved my angiebabe...

And ps. To Krystal and Dog... I have officially decided that you are not allowed to have baby until her favorite aunt Abby is back in town.

Love you and miss you all and can't wait to show you how much I love my disneyland churros and cotton candy

God's Embroidery

I went to a hospice meeting and the chaplain gave this spiritual thought. Little did he know it was so pertinent to my life right now and what I needed to hear:

When I was a little boy, my mother used to embroider a great deal. I would sit at her knee and look up from the floor and ask what she was doing. She informed me that she was embroidering. I told her that it looked like a mess from where I was. As from the underside I watched her work within the boundaries of the little round hoop that she held in her hand, I complained to her that it sure looked messy from where I sat.

She would smile at me, look down and gently say, "My son, you go about your playing for awhile, and when I am finished with my embroidering, I will put you on my knee and let you see it from my side." I would wonder why she was using some dark threads along with the bright ones and why they seemed so jumbled from my view. A few minutes would pass and then I would hear Mother's voice say, "Come and sit on my knee."

This I did only to be surprised and thrilled to see a beautiful flower or sunset. I could not believe it, because underneath it looked so messy. Then Mother would say to me, "From underneath it did look messy and jumbled, but you did not realize that there was a pre-dawn plan on top. It was a design. I was only following it. Now look at it from my side and you will see what I was doing."

Many times through the years I have looked up to my Heavenly Father and said, "Father, what are you doing?" He has answered, "I am embroidering your life."

I say, "But it looks like a mess to me. It seems so jumble. The threads seem so dark. Why can't they all be bright?" The Father seems to tell me, "My child, you go about your business of doing and one day I will bring you to Heaven and put you on My knee and you will see the plan from My side."

My soul felt so much peace after hearing this. How grateful I am for the Lord to provide comfort. How grateful I am for this gospel and the plan of happiness. How grateful I am for the love and support from family and friends. We are blessed even when life gives us dark thread!
